(Tentative start date around middle of November 2025)
We are happy to announce that the 2025 FHI Grant has been awarded to Hop Canyon Fire LLC.
Hop Canyon Fire members are all well-seasoned, wildland firefighters, with many years experience. They will have an eight man crew on site during this process and will be camping out onsite or down by the ranch house while in Timberlake.
They are tentatively scheduled to begin work around middle of November 2025 (weather permitting) and will adhere to the prescription that the New Mexico Forest Division set forth. They are well aware that we are in a burn ban and will have protocols in place to address and mitigate. The Timberlake Volunteer Fire Department will also have fire apparatus on standby, on scene, to assist.
This will be the approved 10 acres that are located in the Commons area at Yucca Trailhead and extending around close to the Cedar Trailhead.
They will be using a 7" inch chipper this time and not the 12" to chip and spread the smaller branches/slash amongst the area. The larger items will be cut and stacked and will be available for landowners.
We are currently working with the NMFD and Forest Guild and will be applying for the FHI Grant 2026 and continuing to promote a healthy forest ecosystem here in Timberlake Ranch Commons areas for all landowners to enjoy.
Please see below (PDF) the Commons area that was selected and approved for the FHI Grant 2025.
Thank you,
